Fatoumata Diawara performing in Madison, WI
The day before her Madison performance, Malian songstress Fatoumata Diawara had a telephonique chat with our friends over at PanAfrica radio show, which airs every Saturday on WORTFM in Madison, WI. Diawara shared a lot about her music and her infinite passion for Africa. This interview inspired us to single out some quotable quotes by Fatoumata Diawara, hoping that these few words keep us all motivated to get involved in celebrating Africa everyday.

Here they are:

“We cannot trust any politician, so we have to find new ideas to help our continent.”

“I feel like a mom for my continent, I would like to give a lot of love to my continent.”

“Today I do not have a nationality, I am African.”

“It is not normal to represent only Mali, it is too little for me.”

“That’s why we are suffering; we are not large in our minds!”

“Me I am lucky, I can speak my language. It is your first identity; if you do not like that, what are you gonna love?”

“Know who you are, accept who you are.”

“Africa needs women’s participation in the development of the continent.”
