#SoCool | Which African Country Deserves A Wakanda Passport?

The fictional African nation that Wakanda is has never drawn as much interest as it is getting today. This may have something to do with the fact that "Black Panther" grossed over a billion dollars making history worldwide.

It is therefore not surprising that everybody is trying to go to Wakanda, or at least know a lot more about this splendid African nation. From the handshake, the moto “Wakanda Forever” to the tribes living in the area and the meaning of the artful tattoos sported by wakandans, a lot of people are astonishingly interested by Wakanda.

Wakanda is said to be located in East Africa, although its exact location has varied throughout the nation's publication history: to some Wakanda is just north of Tanzania, while to others it is bordered by South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia. Google being a certified indicator of people’s hype over this East African nation, we took the liberty to do some light research to find out which African countries seemed ready to own a Wakandan passport.

Thanks to Google Trends, the public web facility of Google based on Google Search, that shows how often a particular search-term is entered relative to the total search-volume across various regions of the world, and in various languages, we were able to single out the African countries that have demonstrated a particular interest toward Wakanda. And no! The most Wakanda-interested country is not in East Africa.

In fact, according to search trends since January 1 2018, Namibia leads as the country doing Google searches about Wakanda the most. The southern African country is followed by Kenya and Tanzania. The countries who made the bottom list are Northern countries such as Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco. Other countries did not make the list indicating there was not enough data for the term Wakanda or any derivatives from these countries such as Niger, Central African Republic, Guinea Bissau and Liberia.

Interest by region
See in which location your term was most popular during the specified time frame. Values are calculated on a scale from 0 to 100, where 100 is the location with the most popularity as a fraction of total searches in that location, a value of 50 indicates a location which is half as popular. A value of 0 indicates a location where there was not enough data for this term.

Note: A higher value means a higher proportion of all queries, not a higher absolute query count. So a tiny country where 80% of the queries are for "bananas" will get twice the score of a giant country where only 40% of the queries are for "bananas".
